I found this very interesting. My father applied for US Residency because my mother was a US Citizen already. So they applied under the "spouse" option. It was a lengthy process that took approximately seven years, not to mention the amount of money that was invested to hire lawyers etc. It is very complicated to become legal in this nation, and this cartoon is not only funny, it is accurate.
ReplyDeleteIt is definitely complicated. My best friend has been here for 11 years, gone to middle school, high school, and graduated from UCSC in the top 2% of Economics, but because of age issues at the time of applying he is still waiting. Graduate school has to be put on hold also. They should really figure out something to do with the student population because these students want to continue their education and have high paying jobs. Most of them have been here so long they don't even know any other way to live if they would be sent back to their country.
